Arsenal made it two wins from two to start the 2019-20 Premier League season by beating Burnley 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday lunchtime.
The Gunners were 1-0 winners at Newcastle United on the opening weekend of the new campaign and came roaring out of the gates in front of their home fans in game number two.
Alexandre Lacazette showed good strength before scoring on the turn after bringing down Dani Ceballos’ corner on the corner of the six-yard box after only 13 minutes.
However, Arsenal failed to capitalise on their lead and were pegged back two minutes before half-time when striker Ashley Barnes tapped home from close range following Dwight McNeil’s deflected cross.
For the second weekend in a row, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored the winner in the second half for Unai Emery’s side. The striker received the ball just outside the penalty area from where he finished inside Nick Pope’s near post. Dani Ceballos had won the ball deep inside Burnley’s half in a man of the match performance from the Spaniard in his first start since joining on loan from Real Madrid over the summer.
